About the event
Join us for an informal morning event at Kohinga Community Centre on Saturday 23 May, from 10:30am until 12:30pm. The drop-in session is open to anyone interested in trapping or protecting our local fauna and environment, whether you are new or long-time volunteers, have no traps or many, have caught many rats or none. Families are encouraged to bring children along to learn how we can improve biodiversity locally.
With the seasons turning and natural food sources becoming harder for rats to find, it is a critical time to trap. Rats are getting less ‘free’ food from gardens, which means they are more likely to investigate our traps.
Currently, there are 178 traps active across St Albans, with over 138 registered on the New Zealand-wide Trap NZ app. The data can assist us with funding.
One key area of focus is to report catches accurately. Volunteers should log any predator…
