Children’s winning visions for the rebuild

Congratulations to St Albans Catholic School on winning the Jewelled Gecko Award for environmental excellence in schools for 2011. The children were asked to describe, draw, and create their visions for the future of Christchurch and the rebuild of our city.

Their colourful and carefully crafted entry was a school-wide collaboration, with each class describing and illustrating how they would like to see the rebuilt Christchurch and the factors they perceived to be very important in the rebuilding process, namely safe buildings; spaces to play; places to enjoy; zero waste/recycling and happy, caring people.
