Cranford Street frontages to shrink

Some businesses/residences in Cranford Street will lose their frontages to the proposed four laning highway, according to a CCC letter being sent out to St Albans residents.

Properties likely to be affected are near the intersection of Cranford Street and Innes Road e.g.: Kidds Cakes. Some parts of Cranford Street are already wide (northern end) or will be two-laned only (i.e: south of Innes Road) and are not affected by this proposal.

Because of tight time constraints, residents are being given barely a week (September 10) to give the council feedback. However, there is plenty of time before the work begins: it is not expected to start until 2017.

A notice of requirement proposal will be lodged on September 23 and some time after that a council property member will approach residents to negotiate purchase.
