Median house price in St Albans tops $400,000

The median house price in St Albans rose 26 per cent in the year ending February 2013 passing the $400,000 mark.

Houses are selling well -more than 250 changed hands in one year – and selling faster (three and a half weeks on average).

However, houses in St Albans are not the most expensive in the city, nor the cheapest. Northwood, with its modern non-quake affected housing has highest median price of housing in the city at $784,250 exceeding pricing in Fendalton. Northwood prices increased nearly 50 per cent in one year.

The lowest median cost housing is available in Christchurch Central (prices dropped there to $235,000) and Wainoni (prices increased slightly).

St Albans has a mixture of old villas and multi-household apartment blocks on TC2 and TC3 land.
