The Shirley Papanui Community Board has indicated its support in principle for an indoor sports facility for Wesminster Park and has granted $5520 to employ a planner to assist with the consent process.

This follows a deputation from Westminster Sports Incorporated at the February 5 meeting of the community board when Chief Executive Eddie Cropley and Project Manager Alan Direen, Project Manager presented an update on their new proposal for siting an indoor sports facility on the park, including a proposal to employ a qualified planner to assist with the consenting process.

The money to pay for the planner has come from discretionary funds tagged for St Albans. There is now $8980 left in that tagged fund.
